If you are a new adjuster looking to work claims from the desk, an adjuster looking to transition from the field to the desk, or an experienced desk adjuster looking to increase your efficiency and get more work, then you’re in the right place! CATI’s Desk Adjuster Essentials courses will help you leverage your skills and knowledge to manage a desk and bulging claim inventory from start to finish.
This program includes two courses—Desk Examiner Essentials and Desk Estimator Essentials—which can be taken individually or as a package, depending on your skills and interests. We highly recommend Desk Examiner Essentials for any property adjuster, inside or out, because of the fundamental claim processes it covers. And we recommend Desk Estimator Essentials for anyone interested in learning to write estimates remotely.
There’s a sea of adjusters wanting that next deployment. Set yourself apart as a distinguished CATI Certified Adjuster. Potential employers and operations managers will know at a glance that you’ve completed our rigorous training and assessment.
CATI Certified Adjuster — Desk Examiner Essentials and Desk Estimator Essentials are certification assessments at the close of each of our Desk Adjuster classes. Succeed in the assessment and earn the a digital badge that you can display proudly to showcase your professional achievement. Adjusters who complete both the Desk Examiner and Desk Estimator certifications will also earn the CATI Certified Desk Adjuster credential automatically.
Desk examiners carry a claim file for its entire life cycle, working with the policyholder, contractor, field adjuster, agent, attorney, PA, and other parties to ensure superior customer satisfaction and that the insurance company pays what they owe (not a penny more or a penny less) on every single claim.
An effective desk examiner must have interpersonal savvy, the ability to read a policy, top-flight estimating skills, and the organizational prowess to keep a lot of plates spinning in the air.
In CATI’s Desk Examiner Essentials course, you’ll learn the key elements of the homeowners’ claim process from first notice of loss to closure of the claim, through engaging combination of facilitated instruction and practical application:
Desk estimators, also known as virtual estimators or virtual adjusters, need proven skills in communication, construction, and estimating to succeed. You’ll be gathering loss details from the policyholder over the phone and through digital scoping tools and writing your estimate from the desk without having seen the property in person.
More than an entry-level position, desk estimators require estimating experience and a solid understanding of the scoping process to get the job done right.
In CATI’s Desk Estimator Essentials course, you’ll learn how to gather the loss information you need without an inspection. Then, you’ll get plenty of hands-on practice writing estimates virtually with real-time feedback from the instructors to master the process.
