Why you need Xactimate X1 Skills Lab

Having your adjuster license is simply not enough to be effective in the field or at a desk. CATI is committed to equipping you with the foundational Xactimate skills you need to do real work in the real world.

Things to know about this course

Xactimate X1 Skills Lab is intended for adjusters with little or no prior Xactimate training or experience. The training will start at the very beginning and work through key fundamental processes to successfully write an estimate.

Adjusters with some experience will benefit from the additional practice and skills refresher.

Completing this class is a significant step toward becoming an adjuster, but it’s important to understand that additional training and practice are essential. Being an adjuster involves much more than holding a license and knowing how to use Xactimate.

While this course provides extensive hands-on practice with Xactimate, it focuses on classroom-based software training. For a comprehensive foundation in the adjusting process, we strongly recommend registering for the CATI Certified Adjuster —Residential Essentials course. This immersive program offers hands-on training in the overall claims adjusting process including coverage, communication, safety, scoping, and estimating using claim simulations in structural mockups to prepare you for real-world scenarios.

Please note that deployment is dependent on a variety of factors and completing this training does not guarantee placement on a deployment with Eberl. Please note that adjusters are subject to a background check prior to deployment and a prohibitive finding on your report may result in disqualification from future opportunities.

Basic Computer Skills

There are no specific course pre-requisites for Xactimate X1 Skills Lab.

However, this course requires significant computer use. If you struggle with basic computer skills, you will be unlikely to succeed in this course—or the job of an adjuster.

To be successful, at a very minimum you will need:

  • dexterity with a mouse
  • ability to use a keyboard efficiently — ability to type 35 words per minute is a good benchmark
  • understanding of file structure and how to save and locate files and images on your computer
  • ability to navigate the internet including locating websites using a browser and ability to log in to user accounts
  • ability to use email including logging in and attaching files

Limited computer skills are one of the biggest reasons new adjusters are defeated in the field. We strongly urge you to be honest with yourself about your abilities and take a basic computer skills course before enrolling if these tasks are challenging to you.
